Needed
The intended purpose of this project was to create awareness and excitement about the launch of a nutrition company called Needed. To spark anticipation, I created a concept for Instagram where 36 square images would build a singular composition of a very long table. The community table seemed like the best way to communicate the many stories that shaped their brand. It was a way to visually portray the idea that nutrition doesn’t happen in an objective vacuum and must account for various social and cultural variables.

Topic: Community Health
Does one bad apple spoil the whole bunch? At a biochemical level, it does indeed. As oranges, pears and other fruit ripen, they produce a gaseous hormone called ethylene, a ripening agent. The riper a piece of fruit, the more ethylene it produces. A very ripe fruit gives off a high enough concentration of gas to over-ripen all of the fruit in its proximity.
Throughout our natural world, it is an unavoidable truth that the health of one affects all. The health of a head of romaine affects the eater and the farmer, much like the health of a pregnant woman influences her growing baby and the family he will be born into. A child sick with the flu can infect her whole classroom, and in time, a community.
The health of one of us weighs heavily on all of us, physically and emotionally. For worse, and for better, we are all interconnected.
